In 1999 The Guide Horse Foundation was founded as an experimental program in order to look into the possibility of miniature horses taking on the role of the guide dog. There are many good points in a miniature horses favour for the job, including a longer lifespan, which makes them potentially a more cost effective option. They also have high stamina, a calm nature, excellent vision and are very safety conscious. How cool is that!
