Fleas…..What do you know?

Ok, so we all have experienced the end result of those nasty little biting insects, fleas and ticks. With the weather getting warmer now, you will most likely have noticed your pets itching more than before. That’s because, just as we love the warm weather, so do fleas! We spend a lot of money in our quest to kill these little critters, but what do you really know about them?
For instance, did you know that there are over 2,500 species of flea worldwide? Or that they can jump more than 150 times the length of their body?
A fleas’ life cycle happens in 4 parts, the egg, the larva, the pupa and finally the adult, which under ideal circumstances takes about 21 days to complete. However, this cycle is massively flexible with pupae being able to stay in their cocoons for up to a year.
One female can lay up to 50 eggs a day, so if you presume that half of her eggs are breeding females, you could have more than 20,000 fleas to deal with in only 60 days. From only one flea! Yikes! I’m itching just thinking about it!
So, what is the best way to get rid of the little blighters? We suggest a mixture of treating your pets and your environment. Come in store to find out the best way to relieve your pets of ‘the itch’ today.
