OUR STORY
Muddy Dog's Beginnings
The Muddy Dog Company was established in 2001 by long-time pet-lover, Sarah Duke-Norris. Situated on Old Main Road in Kloof, this unique pets’ supply store was the first of its kind in the Highway area, providing premium pet-care products for dogs, cats and birds.
Sarah’s passion for animals, extensive knowledge, research and knack for sourcing and purchasing merchandise, has ensured that Muddy Dog remains the market leader. Muddy Dog takes great pride and insists that all products are tried and tested extensively (without any agendas), ensuring that your pets receive only the best products.
Sarah is a passionate dog-owner herself and understands first-hand just how important pets’ health is to their owners. Sarah now has a Cocker Spaniel named Amy and an Irish Wolfhound named Lucy who love going on walks and swimming in the stream.
The love and commitment to the wellbeing of pets extends beyond Sarah. Our team at Muddy Dog are all animal lovers. We even have a few dogs who come to work with their owners and are fondly referred to as our canine staff members. They get paid in treats, of course!

Freddy
Shop Assistant & Deliveries
Freddy is the first person to stop and try to help any injured dog he sees. This has often left him broken-hearted when they’ve had to cross the rainbow bridge. He has huge compassion and has ended up with four dogs adopting him. Freddy’s always there to lend a helping hand and assists clients with carrying purchases to their cars, as well as doing deliveries.
Nonhlanhla
Receiving Manager
Nonhlanhla has lots of experience and has worked at Muddy Dog for a long time. She has a dear little dog named Kiara. Kiara is a rescue and was found by Nonhlanhla’s son. Aside from Nonhlanhla’s love for animals, she loves singing and is part of her church choir. Her favourite breed is a labrador – she loves their soulful brown eyes!
Ilse
Muddy Dog’s Superwoman
How many things can one person do at the same time? If you ask Ilse, the answer is a lot! Ilse is a great multitasker at Muddy Dog, a pet store that offers everything you need for your furry friends. Ilse has a bright and bubbly smile that lights up the room.
Ilse brings a heap of energy, enthusiasm, and friendliness that she shares with her zany rescue dog, Kiki. She is equally at home expertly helping customers choose all their goodies, loves animals, and taking pics of your pooches.
Ilse recently helped 2 x Mom and Kittens who were dropped off at our door get adopted into the same home.
Jac
Ultimate Pet Whisperer
Have you ever wondered how some people can communicate with animals so easily? Meet Jac, a pragmatic animal lover who can solve any problem related to dogs and cats. He is our “go-to” person for sound advice on everything from dog behavioral issues and nutrition to problem-solving on those pesky allergies. Jac moves with confidence and grace as if he knows every animal’s secret, speaking with a soft and soothing voice that calms even the most nervous parents oh and pets.

Muddy Dog’s Sales
I am passionate about ensuring that my dogs, as well as others, receive the best and most affordable diet. I personally train my dogs, including my albino Yorkie who was born deaf and serves as a therapy dog. He excels in obedience, rally, and carting. Additionally, three of my other dogs are also trained in obedience and carting. My dogs are an integral part of my life. Only the best will do

Amanda, the Admin aficionado, is “mutts” about keeping the back office in order. Personally she is all about the Pug Life and loves dogs with beards. She plays an integral part in the workings of Muddy Dog and ensuring that things run smoothly. Amanda has two small dogs. #schnauzermom
